2008 Pikes Peak Regional Volunteer Day Awards Luncheon
April 29, 2008
Cheyenne Mountain Resort

Thank you to all who participated in the Volunteer Day luncheon!  The event was a great success, and we were able to honor more than 150 local outstanding volunteers!

Did you know... More than 32% of people in Colorado volunteer on a regular basis each year, serving their communities and saving organizations millions of dollars.  In fact, Colorado ranks 17th in the nation for percentage of the population that volunteers on a regular basis, and each volunteer averages about 50 hours per year*.  That means more than one million Colorado citizens are reaching out to help those in need in our communities every single year!

The annual Volunteer Day luncheon is the Pikes Peak Region's opportunity to thank those who give so selflessly all year long.  Awards are given to outstanding volunteers in five categories: adult (individual), adult (group), youth, leadership, and corporate.  The Kaleidoscope award is also presented to an exceptional Volunteer Manager/Administrator - they're the ones who keep all those volunteers organized!

The luncheon will also honor those receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation – created by President George W. Bush to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers make to our nation.  In recognition of outstanding volunteer achievements, the Volunteer Center is proud to announce the availability of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a prestigious national honor offered in recognition of volunteer commitment.  Established in 2003, this new Award is given by the President of the United States and honors individuals, families and groups who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service over the course of 12 months.
