Job Description
Volunteer Center Director
Job Summary
Develops and executes the Volunteer Center at the Center
for Nonprofit Excellence with the vision of strengthening the volunteer
experience and the volunteer impact on the community.
Accountability
The position reports to the Executive Director of the
Center for Nonprofit Excellence and is an employee of Pikes Peak United Way.
Responsibilities
- Manage the centralized clearinghouse for volunteers
and volunteer opportunities including:
- Qualifying the opportunities that are posted
- Answering questions regarding the tools, the
process, and volunteerism
- Recruiting volunteers, volunteer opportunities,
and nonprofit agencies
- Promoting the web based Volunteer Solutions
software
- Managing the volunteer resource library
- Advocacy
- Manage the Volunteer Day event
- Collect statistics and research on volunteerism in
the region
- Connect with the State and National resources on
volunteerism
- Market volunteerism to the community
- Partner on Make a Difference Day
- Technical Assistance
- Participate in DOVIA and the DOVIA Board
- Find and/or develop training for volunteer
managers
- Work toward standards of excellence for volunteer
programs
- Establish and maintain collaborations
- 2-1-1, Pikes Peak United Way, DOVIA, Advisory
Commitee
- Write grants related to the Volunteer Center
- Operate within a budget
- Participate in �all staff� functions
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Significant experience managing volunteer programs
and/or a volunteer center
- Organizational skills
- Public speaking skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Training and presentation skills and experience
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to motivate and instill confidence
Education and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to run a volunteer program or
center in a nonprofit organization
- High degree of professionalism and management
experience is required
- Minimum of seven year experience in the nonprofit
sector or corporate community relations
- Bachelor�s degree preferred, advanced degrees a plus
- Certified Volunteer Program Administrator preferred
- Training in volunteer administration preferred
Compensation and Hours
This position is full-time. The annual compensation is
$34,000 to $38,000 depending upon experience and includes all benefits available
to employees of Pikes Peak United Way.
