Position Title:             Development Officer, Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter, Colorado Springs Regional Office

Reports To:                Regional Director

BASIC FUNCTION

Generate financial resources to meet the fundraising goals of the Colorado Springs office. Coordinate all fund development activities and special events including Memory Walk, Memories in the Making Art Auction and the Reason to Hope “Ask” event.  Work directly with the VP of Corporate Relations, the Memories in the Making Project Manager and the VP of Development on the respective events. Cultivate and solicit major donors and prospects in the area.  Recruit and manage event volunteers and committee members. 

 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø  Coordinate with V.P. of Development and V.P. of Corporate Relations to establish fundraising goals and annual work plan.

Ø  Plan the Annual Reason to Hope Fundraising “Ask” Breakfast, working with the committee, recruiting table hosts; securing sponsors to achieve revenue goals and manage budget.

Ø  Assist V.P. of Development in identifying potential major donors and planned giving prospects. Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key donors in the area, moving them along and making major gift “asks” when appropriate.

Ø  Coordinate all local logistics for Memory Walk and Memories in the Making events. Secure corporate sponsorships for these events; provide staff support to volunteer event committee members; and manage the event budgets.

Ø  Learn and utilize the Kintera database as a fundraising, marketing and promotional tool for Memory Walk.

Ø  Represent Alzheimer’s Association in local workplace giving campaigns including Community Health Charities of Colorado, and other local campaigns. 

Ø  Coordinate community awareness and promotion activities with VP of Communications to include media relations, presentations and collateral development.

Ø  Assist in identification of opportunities for grant supported funding.

Ø  Provides assistance and support to office volunteers when necessary.

Ø  Prepare own correspondence, committee reports, agendas and minutes.

Ø  Keep accurate records and provide regular reports on budget line item status.

Ø  Responsible for ensuring fundraising development goals are met or exceeded in the Colorado Springs office.

 

EDUCATION AND EQUIVALENT TRAINING

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related field.  Prior work experience in fund development. Proven track record of successful fund raising through events and individual donor work. Computer skills essential, especially database systems.  Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising practices and principles.

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Progressive experience in non-profit fundraising.  Strong public speaking, public relations, organizational skills and experience with volunteers and committees are essential.  Self-starter with excellent written and oral skills and the ability to function autonomously, but with a high regard for accountability and outcomes.
