Benefits Coordinator

OVERVIEW

Ensure that individuals receiving services receive all the benefits to which they are entitled. Maintain the information system as it relates to funding and benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Benefits

Researches and applies for all benefits/assistance programs available: Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, Veteran’s Administration Benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, AND/OAP, Supplemental Insurance, Food Stamps, Housing Subsidies, LEAP Benefits.

Coordinate all determinations of disability, re-determinations, representative payee reports and appeals -benefits through the Social Security Administration, Department of Social Services, and Public Housing Authorities. Acts as representative payee.

Responsible for monitoring earned income, unearned income, employment, residence, bank records, insurance policies and other assets as it pertains to benefits. Report wages and earned interest to Socia Security Administration, Food stamp Office, and Department of Social Services monthly. Maintain thc benefits records.

Prepare individual financial summaries Monitor and report on benefits to individuals: Social Security Benefits, Medicaid Benefits, Low Income Energy Assistance Program, Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments, Food stamp Benefits, and IRS Rent Rebate.

Monitor and approve expenditures from agency operating account: Community Housing Services No-Vacancy Program awards.

Verify accuracy of Food Stamp allotments, and distribute Food Stamps to departments. Provide an accounting by department to the Business Manager.

Provide information and referrals to individuals and family members regarding trusts.

Participates in discharge planning and completes notifications as needed and closure of benefits record.

Residential Housing Assistance

Complete certification and lease up process on an annual basis, and as necessary throughout the year.

Liaison with local and state housing authorities regarding individuals.

Maintain Housing subsidy referral and waiting list. Assist in enrollment of participant.

Assist in development of new housing programs.

Organizational Responsibilities

Meets with potential service recipients and their parents to explain services and supports available from Cheyenne Village, Inc. Coordinates initiation of services.

Completes Customer Satisfaction Survey and provides support to the Board of Directors for personal interviews.

Receives updated Code of Colorado Regulations as it pertains to Income Maintenance, Medcaid, Food Stamps. Update Department of Human Services Rules and Regulations.

Participate in training of staff as it relates to benefits and reporting requirements.

Maintain liaison and good working relationship with various government and professional agencies .

 

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field. Knowledge of unearned income such as SSI, SSA, SSDI, HUD, Good Stamps and insurance; Medicaid, Medicare, CHAMPUS etc. Computer skills requried. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
