ALLIANCE FOR KIDS: The El Paso County Early Childhood Council is designed to work collaboratively on a high quality early childhood system focusing on Early Care and Education, Health, Mental Health and Family Support.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide leadership in the implementation of an early childhood system in El Paso County, in accordance with the strategic plan of the Alliance for Kids-El Paso County’s Early Childhood Council (Alliance).  To assure that the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the Alliance are effectively carried out under the direction of the Executive Committee of the Alliance.  Assist collaborating agencies in problem solving and moving toward an integrated system of services for young children and their families.  Effectively execute policies, as approved the Executive Committee of the Alliance.  To comply with other Alliance, Joint Initiatives for Youth & Families, and funders’ instructions and guidance. 

 SUPERVISION:
This position reports to the Alliance for Kids Executive Committee and is directly supervised by the Alliance Co-Chairs in coordination with Joint Initiatives for Youth & Families, the employing agency.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

v     Implement the annual strategic plan, as approved by the Alliance.

v     Review and prepare quarterly reports on the status of implementation of the strategic plan.

v     Provide leadership and guidance to Alliance sub-committees.

v     Develop and maintain positive relationships with Alliance members and other community professionals through effective coordination, communication, and continuity.

v     Identify strategic funding opportunities and partnerships that support building an integrated early childhood system.

v     Serve as the primary grant writer for funding opportunities that support the Alliance’s strategic direction.

v     Provide fiscal management and oversight to assure that legal requirements are met and that budgets are prepared and managed, within their requirements.

v     Provide written budgetary reports to the Alliance as required.

v     Ensure compliance with all Alliance, local, State, and Federal guidelines.

v     Act as liaison to State and Federal agencies concerning public policy, programs, appropriations, standards, and other matters related to early childhood development.

v     Manage special Alliance projects, as directed by the Executive Committee.

v     Assure effective management of Alliance general meetings, through planning and preparation with the Executive Committee of the Alliance. 

v     Support existing collaborating agencies and recruits additional members for the Alliance in the focus areas of: early care and education, health, mental health, family support.

v     Serve as a liaison to and between other community initiatives (e.g. HB 1451-WAY for Families, business community, etc.).

v     Maintain confidentiality related to Alliance and family related information and data.

v     Performs other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years of leadership or management in a relevant field is required.  Experience in or with multiple systems is highly desirable.

v     Work autonomously and act independently within the context of the Alliance Executive Committee and Joint Initiatives for Youth & Families’ direction and support.

v     Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

v     Proficient in fiscal management.

 
Salary Range: $46,000 to $55,000.  This position is dependent upon continued grant funding.
