Vail Valley Foundation
Development Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Membership and Development, while working closely with other key members of the Development Office staff, this individual will be foremost responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual gifts (up to $10,000) benefiting the cultural programs of the Vail Valley Foundation. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include, but will not be limited to: managing the Vilar Performing Arts Center Annual Fund (requiring a dotted line reporting relationship to the Vilar Center Director) and managing the Vail International Dance Festival Annual Fund. Areas of external fundraising focus will include: elevating current and lapsed cultural arts donors to higher giving levels; making discovery calls to acquire new cultural arts contributors; maintaining an active presence at both the Vilar Center and the Vail International Dance Festival so to engage supporters and ticket buyers of these venues. Areas of internal fundraising focus will include: diligent documentation and follow-up on all external activity referenced above; coordination of direct mail and e-mail based outreach efforts for the cultural arts; and (with time/demonstrated ability) submission of grants proposals to foundations and corporations.

QUALIFICATIONS include meaningful experience in the non-profit/development/sales sector, a passion for the cultural arts, and the ability to knowledgeably and enthusiastically represent the Vail Valley Foundation and all of its initiatives. Further qualifications include the ability to work diligently and under deadlines; strong attention to detail; strong technology and database skills; the willingness to work non-traditional hours; and annual fund coordination/direct marketing experience. The ideal candidate should also possess strong organization and communication skills and an undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university. Experience effectively managing others, along with event management experience is a real plus.
